Is this a finished piece, or do I have to build it myself?
This is a DIY kit. It arrives unassembled as pre-cut wooden pieces. Building it is part of the experience, and we recommend allowing approximately 8–10 hours to complete it in one sitting or across a few cozy evenings.
What's in the box?
One complete Dark Family book nook kit with the pre-cut wooden pieces, LED lighting components, and illustrated step-by-step instructions. Glue and 2 AA batteries are not included.
Do I need any special tools or skills?
No prior craft experience is required. The pieces are pre-cut and the kit includes illustrated instructions. You will need your own basic craft or wood glue.
Why aren't glue or batteries included?
Glue and batteries are excluded because of air-shipping restrictions. You can purchase both locally. The lighting requires 2 AA batteries.
Does it actually light up?
Yes. The included LED lighting creates a warm interior glow once the book nook is assembled. It runs on 2 AA batteries, which are not included.
How hard is this build, really?
It is beginner-friendly, but it is a detailed project rather than a quick craft. Work patiently and allow approximately 8–10 hours instead of rushing the assembly.
What size is it, and will it fit on my bookshelf?
It measures approximately 18 cm long × 11 cm wide × 23.2 cm tall and is designed to sit between books like a decorative bookend. Please measure your shelf before ordering.
Is this safe for kids?
This kit is recommended for ages 14 and older. It contains small parts that may present a choking or swallowing hazard and is not intended for young children. Keep all pieces away from anyone likely to place them in their mouth.
Is it a good gift?
Yes. It makes a thoughtful gift for book lovers, miniature collectors, patient crafters, birthdays, holidays, and book-club exchanges.
Will it look exactly like the photos?
Your finished piece should closely resemble the photos, but slight differences in color and measurements may occur because of screen settings, lighting, manual assembly, and natural material variation.
How do I clean and care for it once it's built?
Use a soft, dry brush or a gentle puff of compressed air to remove dust. Avoid water and cleaning sprays, which may warp the wood or damage printed details.
What if mine arrives damaged?
Contact us with your order number and clear photos of the damaged item or pieces so we can review the issue and make it right.
Will future book nooks match this style?
Each set is a self-contained scene that can stand alone, while the collection is designed to look cohesive when several book nooks are displayed side by side.
Is this just a toy, or can I actually display it?
It is designed to be displayed. Once assembled, it works as illuminated décor for a bookshelf, desk, reading corner, or other dry indoor surface.
